Graffiti Hall..

We are now just at the halfway point for rehearsals and the show is really starting to come together.

It's been some long hours, but the cast and crew have been putting in a top notch effort,just so they can entertain everyone and hopefully get some shifts.

'One For The Road' which appeared in The Duiske Inn last August found us rehearsing and putting a show in somewhere that could feel quite intimate.We also really enjoyed the fact that the show itself was set in a bar so when we asked ourselves where we could do it?Where better than a bar itself.

This time around, everything has changed and we say everything has changed we mean everything!

Last time found us performing a show, literally right in front of  people. This time we are getting used to having a stage and a larger area to work with.

At this point you may have guessed that the show will be performed in The Hall in Graiguenamanagh, and we love it. I believe we will be the first show in there to reopen this building full of stories about discos, drink, dances, boyzone and Ray Darcy.

Having a stage really does but us in a whole new scenario, and the cast have realized this. Although we have a large area to work with, we still plan on creating a very intimate show. Like our last show which seated approximately seventy people a night, we are going to be doing the same with this one.

There's only at most five weeks to opening so we will be hitting the ground running from March on-wards. Tickets are set to go on sale soon...very soon. And their may be some deals on those bad boys if you catch them early.

August and Everything After.

We are nearing the end of February and at the same time we are reaching the halfway point for rehearsals. And as I can't say much about that end of things, I can say that I am happy.The cast are putting in a top notch job developing their characters and are working hard. Coming to rehearsals in between college,work and telling their other halves they can't get the shift tonight because they have to rehearse.

But we can now at his point tell you a little bit more about the show. Firstly it's set over the month of August by the boathouse. A place where many drinks have been consumed and shifts had. Many a man from Graiguenamanagh could tell you stories of romantic first kisses by this wall looking out to the river.

They could also probably tell you a few stories about drunken nights where a few of the auld extra safe, pictured above would have come in handy.

I suppose for any post leaving cert,the toughest month for them would have to be August. The C.A.O results are approaching, they could possibly be saying goodbye to their friends as they head off on their separate ways and at the same time they are all getting excited for the biggest night of the year...the debs.

The debs in Graig has become legendary with drama, fights, sex in toilets and such, but they are no doubt a great night.

The debs is also the night where a lot of couples plan on it being their first time, but your probably better off not planning anything at all, after all it may not go the way you want. It more than likely won't.

 

At the same time this August there is a ceili planned for some lovely Spanish girls that have arrived in Graiguenamanagh and some of the characters have literally falling over by the sight of the them.

The boy meets the girl in the yellow aran jumper.

So this is a....

Yea,that's it...this is a story.A story of.....

Exactly..this is a story of boy meets girl. So let's begin with the boy....

There he is. This boy spent his days working in the Second hand book shop in Graiguenamanagh.

This book shop was not an overly busy book shop. So the boy spent his days reading the books and listening to music.

Then one sunny day in May. A Saturday to be precise. The shop wasn't busy so the boy continued reading his book that he was reading at the time and in the background he listened to some music by Prince.

While Prince played in the background,the boy in question had not noticed anyone walk in to the shop. The boy though felt as someone was there so he looked up. And there she was, the most.....

That's the word...beautiful,girl he had ever seen.The boy didn't know who she was. He asked himself the question....

 She couldn't have been from Graiguenamanagh as he had lived there his whole life. He also, on the many nights he had been out after a hard day of selling books, never saw her in any of the pubs such as The Globe or O'Sheas. All he had to go by was what she was wearing.

The girl....wore this yellow aran jumper. And the boy was astonished. This girl was everything he had ever wanted in a girl. Since he was old enough to decide what he wanted in a girl. He thought to himself...'This is what prince meant when he sang..'Your the reason that god made a girl'...She had to be the reason.

The girl in this yellow aran jumper then made her way over to him and said hello,but the boy was....

Yep he was speechless. So he quickly asked if he could help her with anything. The girl then asked for a book,but not just any old book.She asked for 'Great Expectations' by Charles Dickens.

The boy quickly found the book, the girl bought it and left. She left him with the exact same thing as Charles Dickens had named his famous book.

The boy was in love.

He thought to himself that him and this girl could someday be together.

And he would be happy. They would go places together.The cinema, the theatre and the zoo...the boy fecking loved penquins. She was everything he could want in a girl. So he spent his time.....

Hoping someday she would come back and he would finally get her name and ask her out. And maybe she would say yes to the boy.And after some time he would put their names together on the wall by the boathouse.

And there their names would stay forever.But....

The girl never came back. So the boy never got her name or where she was from and he definitely never got to ask her out. But he continued to wait,hoping some day he would see her again.

Presenting.... 'BitterSweet Graffiti'

New year,new blog,new show!This week saw the beginning of the rehearsals for 'Spark Productions' upcoming show 'BitterSweet Graffiti'.And we have been having a lot of fun...a fucking load.

The only question now is how much we can tell you about it,and the answer is very simple...fuck all really.And there has been questions, the main one being 'What the fuck is with the name?' and the only answer I can give to that is,'your just going to have to wait and see'.

But there is a couple of things I can tell you,firstly 'Bittersweet Graffiti' is 'A comedy that show's Graffiti is more than writing on a wall'

The Second thing is like our last show you can expect a lot of 'fucks,bollox and gobshite' and other fun words we like to use.

But the biggest news I can tell you is where the show is set. And it's right here in our own home of Graiguenamanagh. Don't panic none of the characters are based on anyone.......

                        'BitterSweet Graffiti' is set at the lovely boathouse,by the stone wall to be precise.

Some of you,when you look at this lovely picture above,can be quite nostalgic of fun times here.Drinking can's,summer's which were like those in Spain and made girls from all over come here in bikini's and there's probably one or two memories after a night out or two which we probably wouldn't be allowed discuss on this.

This wall probably has loads of stories to tell and definitely some brilliant gossip, if it could talk(It better fucking not). So this is where our story will take place.

That's all you need to know right now,and all we want you to know.

'BitterSweet Graffiti' come's to Graiguenamanagh in April, but Graig might not be the only place you will get to see this show.
